Rider Stories – Lindsay Finan

Get to know our WENZ members in this feature news on rider stories.

This rider story features Lindsay Finan, from the Working Equitation Franklin group. Lindsay says that this group is very supportive and friendly and that she is proud to be part of it.  Lindsay has dabbled in WE earlier but has now come back, with the goal of getting to to perform at Masters level.

Lindsay recommends this sport as it has so much to offer and it doesn’t matter if you ride Western, English or any other style. It is inclusive and you don’t need expensive gear or horse.

My Working Equitation experience so far…

I’ve been doing it with my present horse for just over a year. I’m doing Preliminary level.

My other equestrian interests are…

I have come from a dressage background and compete at showing.

My Equine Partner is…

Kehru, out of a Northland bush pony by an Arab stallion. A friend bred him we both handled and started him then he was given to me in return for my assistance in starting 6 more horses.

I got into Working Equitation because…

it is challenging and fun. It has a big element of competition. It keeps the horse interested.

Working Equitation is helping us…

develop new skills to deal with the obstacles and makes my horse much more focused.

Something I found surprising about Working Equitation was…

the skills required to perform the tasks.
